Can Osteopathy Help Me?

You can come with any painful or chronic condition, whether it is acute, an injury, postural issues or general stiffness and
loss of function that has just crept up on you.
You might also come for pregnancy or child issues, or for rehabilitation after surgery.
We will take a history and discuss it in language you understand.
We will carry out a physical assessment, usually with you fully clothed.
We’ll make a treatment plan with you, and explain why we propose that course of action.
We’ll refer you for radiology or to your GP if necessary.
We can register an ACC claim and provide subsidized treatments where applicable.

Our Osteopaths

All of our osteopaths have trained in NZ or the UK. All have had 4-5 years of tertiary level training and also attend regular CPD courses, they are ACC accredited and hold Annual Practising Certificates with the Osteopathic Council NZ. Not all osteopaths work in the same way…some are more oriented toward structural treatment of the body, using stronger techniques including resisted muscle movements, strong stretching and quick clicking manipulations, while some work with more subtle movements and pressures, such as in cranial osteopathy, or by gently releasing tension from tissues.

The osteopathic toolbox taught during our clinical training is a very extensive one, and there are also many postgraduate courses we can attend. And of course all osteopaths are trained to adjust the forces used to allow safe and effective treatment for a baby or an elderly person, as well as for a heavily built person. As they gain experience, most osteopaths tend to select the tools which they personally find most effective. If you are not sure who to see, our receptionists will guide you.
